ITEM OVERVIEW
Technically, this is the fourth issue of Arsenal, the occasional surrealist "magazine." Actually, it's a bloody huge, 225 oversize page compendium (read feast) of surrealist and surrealist-tinged art, graphics, cartoons, poetry (of course), essays, rants, and more from just about everybody. How's this for a (very) partial list of contributors—Nelson Algren, Georges Bataille, Benjamin Paul Blood, Andre Breton, Paul Buhle, Luis Bunuel, Leonora Carrington, Jayne Cortez, Marcel Duchamp, Paul Garon, Robert Green, C.L.R. James, Ted Joans, Philip Lamantia, Mary Low, Errico Malatesta, Herbert Marcuse, Karl Marx, George Orwell, Benjamin Peret, Nancy Joyce Peters, Dave Roediger, Franklin Rosemont, Penelope Rosemont, T-Bone Slim, Debra Taub, Patrick Turner, Tim White, Davey Williams...and well, about 200 more. It really doesn't get much better than this, whether you're looking for art, culture, politics, or just an engagement with life. As the subtitle boldly, and accurately, claims: Surrealism in the service of Revolution, Poetry, The Marvelous, Dream, Revolt, Freedom, Desire, Wilderness & Love.
