Friday, July 3rd through Sunday, July 5th: 25% OFF EVERYTHING!!
Twice a year we have a big sale (the other in December), where we open the warehouse to locals, offering everything at a 25% discount, with some stuff as cheap as $1 (see below, and come if you are in the area). We have drinks and snacks, and blast our terrible music. It's fun for us and a good chance for people in the area to get together, check out the books, socialize a bit. Anyway, we realize that people not in the Bay Area needn't be punished with full-priced books while we are enjoying ourselves on the cheap. Crack open a nice beverage, as we will be doing, and enjoy 25% off books all weekend long.

Friday, July 3rd: Fuck the Fourth Sale!
4–10PM, AK Press warehouse
It's that special time again! Everything in the warehouse 25% off, with hundreds of titles marked down to $1–5! Snacks and refreshments on us! Tell your friends!

Friday, July 10th: Shutdown Screening: A benefit for Tristan Anderson
7PM, AK Press Warehouse
$5–25 sliding scale
A benefit for our fearless friend and comrade, Tristan Anderson, who is
still in the hospital in serious condition after being shot in the face by
the Israeli Defensee Forces in March.
Tristan is one of the many activists who appear in the movie discussing
issues of social justice and movement building strategy. That he has since
taken such a blow in the fight against injustice underscores the serious
need for a strong movement.
Come and support a comrade who needs our love and solidarity. All proceeds
will go directly to aid Tristan's medical and life needs.
We will have food, drinks, music and room for discussion.

Tuesday, July 16th: The U.S. Network of Users and Survivors of Psychiatry presents: The "Human Rights for ALL Tour"
7PM, AK Press warehouse
Free, but donations gratefully accepted
The U.N. Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) was adopted on December 13, 2006 and entered into force on May 3, 2008. The Convention represents a radical paradigm shift away from viewing people with disabilities as "objects" of treatment and guardianship to active agents in their own lives, deserving of the human rights inherent to all people.
Some of the issues to be covered in the “Human Rights for ALL” teach-ins will include: a discussion on why the U.S. should ratify the CRPD; the most innovative human rights principles in the CRPD; and strategies for using the CRPD as a human rights instrument in states and communities. The ‘Human Rights For ALL Tour’ is designed to spark a dialogue about the CRPD, and facilitate conversations about how users and survivors of psychiatry, together with allies, cross-disability and human rights coalitions, can use the human rights framework and mechanisms to bring an end to violations and promote a culture of dignity and respect for everyone, once and for all.
